Stephanie,
What kind of budget do you have to work with? I would assume that if your hubby works two jobs, and you're usually working full-time that you're not too tightly strapped for cash, but that you don't want to go out spending $100 a day on activities either. If you're like me and my hubby, you would prefer activities that cost no more than $10 each (at the MOST).
Have you thought about joining a kid-friendly gym (like a YMCA) or getting your son involved in a tumbling class at a gymnastics center? What about an arts & crafts class at your local parks & recreations office? Sometimes local colleges offer classes for kids (music, dance, theater, art)... you can check into those. Oh... and what about your local children's theater company... that might be the perfect solution for you and your son (if he's shy, it might be good for him to try singing and dancing with 50 other kids).
I think it's great that you're looking for ideas on how to get your son active in his community. I don't know what's available in Oregon, but those are some of the things available for us here in Phoenix, Arizona. I hope I've given you some ideas you can try.
You can always google kid activities for Oregon. Best of luck! ~Jamie |
