I started veggies first, about 2 weeks after starting rice cereal, one new veggie per week so you can see if she has an allergic reaction. I giave him about 4 veggies, then one fruit per week. Once you wait for a reaction and see she is ok with it, you can mix them and give her something different every day.

If she is eating the cereal without problems you can start adding some veggies now, like Marcia said I also started with veggies first, you have to give her the same one according to my doctor for at least 4 days to make sure she doesnt have an allergic reation then you start with fruits and if she doent have a problem with any of them then you can start mixing them. I started with gerber foods at the beginning because i wanted to make sure he was not allergic but then i started cooking for him, it really works to boil different kind of veggies in water with a little tiny bit of chicken broth (powder) for flavor and then put everything on the food processor. My son loves it, BabyRUs has a great baby food processor for $20 I use it all the time, is great. Good luck!!! You are going to have so much fun learning what your daughter likes, keep a camera handy the faces they make while eating are so funny =0)

my fiancee thinks we have to wait til 6 months. but i dont think so. i dont want her to get behind. my mom in law says applesauce is a good first. what do you think?

Applesauce and banana cause constipation, so I wouldn't give too much. Rice cereal as well too. I started giving my son Gerber and BeechNut veggies first then moved onto fruits when my son was four months.

Once I started to give him oatmeal after a month of trying rice cereal, it significantly improved.

I started by cooking my own veggies, and bananas were the first fruit- it's least likely to cause a reaction.

Some people say that all babies need for the first 6 months is breast milk, but if you start to notice your baby being hungry more often, like she is not satisfied then it is time to give her more. Solid foods are more filling. When she is hungry more often that means she needs more.

Babies are all different but both my son and my cousin's dauthter whos 6 months old found banana kind of heavy to start with. According to my doctor he makes me start with veggies first because he said fruits are sweet so after fruits you may have a hard time feeding them veggies but every doctor has a different point of view so Im not saying he is right but we followed his instructions and we did not have a problem, my son eats everything!!!. I think you should start now since your baby problably needs something a little bit more filling, and it takes them a while to get used to solid foods, by 7 months lot of babies start eating finger foods so you should start little by little so its not a big change for her, besides if she is not ready she will let you know.
