First Friday of the month

Every first Friday of the month in my children school the parents are invited to spend from 8:30 to 9:05 time in class to read to their children.

The idea is nice because we get to know the other children and the parents but the reality is a bit more complicated. First some parents can not take time off work to attend so the kids without parents feel bad, then (as it is my case) I have two children in different classes so I try to split my time which means that I have 15 min. in each class.

When they decided this first Friday institution did they think about the drawback? I guess not because now we have 3rd Wednesday of the month is Family as Math partner.

I understand. At my sons school there always having some assembly or another and my mom makes me feel bad when I dont go. But with having a infant its not that easy to grag her there just to see him sing a 2 min long song than drag her home. Just in time to turn back around and pick him up. You see I live in peabody and he goes to Salem.

Yeah! I can just imagine all the days off of work due to colds and illness. Stuff like this sounds good and all but it could lead to parents getting in trouble at work. Besides, my kid hates when I read to her she would rather listen to someone else.
