Homework

I am a big believer in homework because I feel it is the only time when a child can test his knowledge. In principle, I agree that parents should supervise but I really find frustrating when I have to be involved in the homework from the begining.

If they have to prepare a project they will need my help so find materials etc.

Is that the way it works in every schools?

Well if my kid "forgets" about the project until last minute then I feel I have to be involved and I hate feeling that pressure.... If it was totally up to me it is their responsibility and if they make a list of supplies needed and some help every once in a while then I am ok but I am out of school and like keeping it that way.

It's like that in every school my children have been in. From Arizona, to Oregon, to Indiana. Sometimes I get beside myself and feel irritated because help is always needed right in the middle of something else, alot of something else. Inconvenient. Then I reflect, get a hold of myself, sometimes apologize, because I immediately reacted in my tone. "This is my child's life, school, his time away from home, I want him to be successful." I believe it's a teacher's job to teach what is required of them, but it's the parents to continue that training. God blessed me with the greatest responsibility of training these children, everything outside of my husband and children are the inconvenient activities, if anything is to be inconvenient at all. God forgive me, I forget that sometimes. School is in session for me, for quite some time, my youngest is 2yrs old. Guess that makes me a student for life.
