Eczema is a common problem. if your baby is affected, take a look at these tips and suggestions straight from the members of our First Time Moms group.
i don't see fragrance free/dye free laundry detergent on this list. This made the biggest difference in my daughter's eczema, moreso than using lotions or creams. i agree that aveeno baby bath is best, she still has to use it at 4 1/2 yo.
My daughter and I both have eczema, and I just wanted to let people know try to pat your baby dry (not rubbing) and putting lotion on straight after the bath (that is the most absorbing time for your skin). I have been putting Aveeno lotion on my daughter every morning and evening and it really helps! Eczema is usually some type of an allergic reaction, when I was little it would flare up really bad around animals. So if your baby has really bad eczema further down the road she/he may benefit from going to an allergist.
I found a great lotion that is non-toxic and does not use any steroids. The same company also has sent free, non-toxic laundry soap. If you want more information go to www.dawnhoward.fourpointwellness.com and fill out the more information section.
My cousin uses Beeswax. It is soothing and acts as a barrier cream, good stuff. Mary Kay makes a great one, no scents or colorings, 100% natural beeswax and it is inexpensive and a little goes a long way. Really helped her a lot.
I joined this group specifically because of my childrens needs and ezcema. With the baby crawling, he keeps it aggravated. His poor little feet looked so pitiful. I've tried all the lotions, Aveeno, PX, Gentle Naturals and none of it worked as good as this.

my son had a little, I'm not sure if you would call it eczema but it was just like it. I started putting baking soda in his bathwater(just a little) and it softened up the water and that seemed to help also I started putting a dab of vit E cream on him right after his baths and now his skin is SOOOOO much better.
Have you guys tried ReNew lotion? My husband and children have seen drastic results from using it! We also changed our laundry detergent ...and it has helped as well. ReNew Lotion actually beat Eucerin in a lab test for people with chronic eczema. ReNew is not greasy like Eucerin is too...just thought I would share.
I tried Mia Bellas Sweet Orange & Chili Pepper Bella Bar. This has a pleasant fragrance to it. It is so gentle & mild I used it on my puppy. The bar is made of all natural ingredients. You feel like you have lotion on your skin once you rinse it off. It's 4 sale at www.LoveMyMias.com
