Friends of mine have a baby who was scheduled to begin his MMR immunization in a month or so - but who has just been diagnosed with German measles (rubella) because a few of the parents in his playgroup with older toddlers decided that they'd rather buy into disproven allegations of autism risk rather than get their kids immunized.
As a result, not only are THEIR kids sick, but they've spread the disease to several OTHER kids in the playgroup, who are young enough that they couldn't get the shots and young enough that the infection has gotten them REALLY sick.

How unbelieveably irresponsible is right! You don't send your kids to daycare when they're sick! Sorry but rubella is rare enough now that you pretty much have to set up a time with someone who has it so your kids can get exposed to it. If you expose your child to the disease you should have the courtesy to keep them home for a few days. There are newborns in daycare whose immune systems are not developed enough to handle some of these diseases. I don't care which side of the vaccine debate you stand on!
I have 15+ years of research on this matter. I have a medical background. I have children who are vaccinated and unvaccinated. Conclusion, a body's natural defense is best. Do you A. get vaccinated and play the risk of long term nuerological and physical disorders and even death. or B. Do not vaccinate. and hope you don't have to run to the ER some day.
