I know that juice is given to babies and toddlers often, however when I was a new Mommy, a trusted friend told me that her 2 daughters were never given juice because of the sugar content. The more I looked into the subject, the more I learned just how right she was. Most juice has a lot of sugar, and the 100% juices can lead to upset stomach's in babies. Milk and water only for my little one.

I couldn't answer this question because while I don't give my 10 month old any juice, I do give my almost 4 year old juice on occasion and have been doing so since he was around 1 1/2 years old. I've always watered it down and still do. I also don't give it to him every day. It has been useful when he's been constipated as pear or prune juice can help with that. I agree that milk and water are better, but I think that it's okay for toddlers to have it on occassion.

I agree with the occasional juice. I give my daugther watered down orange juice because I think that it boosts your immune system but other fruit juices I don't give her. She loves her fruit and gets plenty of it throughout the day and so I don't think she really needs fruit juice.

My daughter drinks mostly milk, but I do make sure that she has at least 1 cup of juice a day. She also has a cup or two of water a day as well. and ABSOLUTLY NO SODA!!!

My daughter drinks juice everyday, but I only put an once of juice and 6 onces of water. She won't drink plain water so I have to add a little flavor.

Nahara has a cup of juice every day but we didn't start giving her juice till she was over a year old. I also don't ket her have more than one or two sippy cups of juice a day. She likes water, milk, and unsweetened decaf tea.

my kids drink juice, 100%, 10%, whatever. they are fine. i am more concerned about artificial sweetners and caffeine intake than sugar intake. mostly, given the choice, they tend to choose milk or water anyways. so the 'juice' intake is maybe 2-3 times per week. no big deal for us.

I wish there was an in between option. My kids drink 100% juice often but not daily. They drink milk and water daily. Sometimes they drink flavored water or Crystal Light (instead of Kool-aid).

My son has been having juice from 4 1/2 months. He loves it! Plus sugar is not completely bad, the body does need some sugars and the vitamin C and other vitamins do wonders for his resistance and development. I stick to 100 % juice, and as he grew older introduced him to numerous fresh fruits which he also loves. Everything has its place in moderation.

Up until my little one was 6 months old I was having to put kaero syrup in her bottles in order to keep her bowel movements moving. She was always on the heftier side of the weight chart because of it. I asked the head nurse at my pediatrician's office, and she suggested I start giving her some apple juice rather than the syrup. So every day my little one gets one 3-4 oz bottle of Gerber apple juice. Now her bowels are regular, and she has slimmed out considerably. Now she is on the smaller side of the weight chart, but she eats like a horse still!

I actually make most of my own juice so I can put in all the fruits and veggies I want and my son loves it! If by chance I can't make fresh juice that day he only gets 100 % juice and I cut it with approx another full cup of water so it's not so hard on the teeth .

My son is WEIRD! He hates juice and fruit. So I ended up trying to give him this organic baby veggie juice but he didn't really want that either. I have just been giving him formula and water. He is just a veggie lover!!!

Only milk and water for our son (21 months) he's tried orange juice with calcium but mostly prefers milk.

I didn't vote on this because I think there should really be a third option of occasionally giving your child juice. I do not give my child juice every day. Only on occasion. But typically I would prefer to just give them the actual fruit itself instead of the juice. However, I don't believe that juice is bad for children. Complex sugars that you find in 100% juice are not bad for you plus the vitamins that are in the juice can be helpful to your childs immune system. That is why I give my kids Apple Juice when they are sick. It is only bad when you give them only juice all the time.

I do give my daughter juice everyday but I only give her 100% jucie and it has got to be not from concertrate, and I will water it down to 1 part juice to 3 parts water. But I also give her crystal light well watered down when we go on long walks.

I give my 2 year old juice all the time. He will not drink milk. So he drinks juice, tea, and pedasure.

There isn't an in between option. My children get juice every so often but not everyday including my 4.5 month old when she was constipated. My kids though prefer milk and water over the juice though but they like to have it every once in a while.

my fav juice for my son is the one from V8 where its a serving of veggies and fruits... its awesome and he loves it! i water it down a lil if he'll let me... (if he doesn't notice) but juice is good for him bc he's an extremely picky eater bc of his dad and grandma.... so juice is the next best option.

I give my daughter juice as a treat but I water it down a little and most of the time it is white grape which I read is better than apple for babies who were caulicie as new borns. But if she is having a hard time with poopy diapers than I will give her slittly watered down apple juice or 1table spoon caro syrup to 4oz of water - she loves it. If I give to her every then she won't drink her milk or water.

My son drinks 100% juice nearly everyday. My pediatrician told me to only give him 2 cups of whole milk a day. He also drinks flavored and regular water as well as some tea. We brush teeth 2 times a day, so I don't worry too much. It has never hurt him in anyway, and he is perfectly healthy.

We also water the juice down - we use only the 100% juice, and it's usually an ounce or two to 6 oz of water.

I water his juice WAY down. Usually 90% water & 10% juice

I give my son juices (primarily orange juice) every morning. He gets really constipated and this is the ONLY thing that makes him go to the bathroom. The only caveat is that I only get my juices from Whole Foods.

I usually don't give my girl juice b/c it is rather expensive and my hubby ends up drinking most of it before she gets any. When I do, it is no more than one cup in a day. I also give her Crystal Lite which she loves. I have been giving her water since she was 4 months old so she will drink it and requests it alot of the time.

I give juice to my son, BUT its only a tiny bit of the baby juice(its already somewhat watered down) and I pour about 2oz juice and 6oz water in a sippy cup and he loves it. I mean yea its mainly water but it does have a tiny bit of flavor in it(I had to test it to be sure the right mixture). He only gets juice at lunch time and after dinner when we are waiting on daddy to get home from work. He mainly just slobbers it down the front of himself. But if its not juice its just plain ol water....but of course he has his formula and baby food but juice is just a filler

Doctor's request, babies don't really need it. I only gave my 1st water and milk and now water is drink of choice. I get a little laugh when he orders water at a resturant, I am sure people think we are cheap!

My 2 year old drinks mostly water and milk. I push the water cause living in AZ it's very important but she des get juice with breakfast which is still watered down. She gets Pedia sure at bedtime in a sippy cup with storytime and through out her day drinks water and sometimes Powerade Zero, still watered down but she likes the colors and that I let her drink the same thing I do!!! She wants so badly to be a big girl!!!!

I give my daughter that V8 splash and water the other juices down. She loves juice but also drinks her 2 glasses of milk everyday. She also drinks lots of water.

I prefer for my son to get his fruit from the real thing.
Juice is too sugary and I am lucky he does not like most of them. Milk and water just seemed easier and healthier for him.

My son drinks juice everyday. Although I always water it down. I do half juice half water. Why? I don't know. But he likes it that way and I have always done that. I think when he was a baby I heard it cut down on the sugar. :-) He also gets milk. I switch through out the day so that he doesn't get tired of the same stuff all the time.

I give my daughter water downed juice daily only because her doctor needed her to have more sugars in her diet to help her with her health problems. For the most part though she prefers water and milk.
