I am a first time mom, too. My son is just over a year old and I don't know anyone from the area. I live in Yulee, FL (I'm from south FL) and would like to get together with other parents...give my son some social time and me, too. There is a really nice community center in Fernandina Beach, FL I was thinking of looking into a set playgroup time every week.
