3 years old and i am just worried

Have you spoken with your pediatrician about it?  If not, I would make an appointment as soon as possible.  Don't be afraid.  It's ok that your baby may need a little extra help with talking.  A lot of kids do.  On the other hand, remember that some kids just don't want to talk until a certain age.  It's ok to feel the way you're feeling.  I did too.  I will say though that when we started getting help for our daughter, the stress level of our family dropped tremendously.  I can't tell you what a relief it was to know that I wasn't the only mom suffering, I wasn't the only mom with a baby who couldn't talk or needed a little extra help.  Trust your instincts about your little one.  If you believe there to be something wrong, 9 times out of 10, there usually is and there is something you can do about it.  Call your pediatrician and make that appointment.  They will help you and give you so many resources that it will overwhelm you.  And don't hesitate to e-mail if you need anything.  

I agree 100% with Elizabeth. The only thing I'd add is keep in mind your pediatrician will ask you some questions like how many words can your child say? how much of what they say can you understand? how much can a stranger understand? just some things you'll want to take mental notes of between now and your appointment. Also, what happens if you try to engage the child in conversation or try to "make" them ask for things? All of us here understand the worry. The pediatrican should definately be a great place to start.

I had a feeling my son had a speech delay . My son right now is the only child and not around a lot of children his age during the day. I asked his pediatrician and she was confident it was nothing. Well my sons speech did not improve and i asked to get his tested by an early interventions place. He did not qualify which I was very surprised. I am a teacher of children with special needs. We now take my son to private speech therapy but our insurance makes us pay a co-payment. it gets so expensive. has anyone else had this experience ?

Christy,  I have not had to pay a copay, but have you tried the public school system?  Also, how delayed is your son?  Did the Early Intervention people tell you?  They should have.  Also, if you are a stay-at-home mom, there are several exercises that you can do with your son at home so you don't have to have speech therapy so much as it can get expensive.  

what kind of exercises can you do

Songs mostly since articulation is required in music.  I do songs like "I like to eat apples and bananas", "Do-Re-Mi", etc.  There is another song that my dad taught me growing up that has really helped both my children.  Here are the lyrics

B-A Bay, B-E Bee, B-I Bicky Bye, B-O boe, Bicky Bye Boe Boo.

Do this with each consonant of the alphabet.  Do it slowly and they will catch on. You'd be surprised how fast.  If you need me to, I can see about recording my voice doing the song and send it to you.
