Hello! I know that our daughter Isabella (2yrs) is wise beyond her years, an old soul it seems. She had a very traumatic birth, and we think that she may have cerebral palsy. I was searching for a play group locally for children with special needs, with no such luck, but came across this group. I am glad to have found it. Bella doesn't do a lot of "talking", but she does communicate! She's brilliant, but can't always get her physical body to do what she wants. I hope to connect more with her through alternative communication techniques. Anyway, more later, and...Thank you for your time!
Welcome! I'm so glad you found the group. I am hoping to have areally good group going where each of us can share our experiences and tips on raising our special children!
One thing you may want to look into to start off with is American Sign Language. I have found the even though Wyatt doesn't do that many signs, it has helped us communicate a lot...
That's wonderful! My Wyatt is 18 months old on the 19th and doesn't communicate verbally at all...there is a show on PBS every Saturday called "Signing Time". If you haven't seen it you should check it out...I have picked up a LOT of signs to teach Wyatt from there and he really enjoys the show!
