Hi! I am Beth also and am 38 years old. I am expecting my first around Dec. 27. I am glad I am not the only "late blooming" mommy around here! LOL! I wish for you a happy and healthy baby and a wonderful pregnancy!
Take care,
Beth
Hi,
Nice to see a few "older" moms-to-be around. I was on some other site and they were all 21 and people mistaking them for teenage mothers and I started to feel like maybe this wasn't the site for me :)
Just took my glucose test and that was went fine so that's good. Now we're looking for daycare, so expensive! Are any of you going back to work, staying home? Just curious.
Beth
Our plans are that I will stay home. After 19 years with my company, it's a little bitter sweet, but I am looking forward to time with the baby.
I now work 4 - 10 hour days with 2 1/2 hours of commuting (round trip). I don't know how long I will be able to do it... I am already exhausted LOL. I am hoping to hold out until the end of the year and leave.
Hi,
2 1/2 hr commute!! That's crazy, I don't know if I could do that one.
I wish I could just stay home..sometimes. I do like working and I like making a weekly salary. Its a tough one.

I am going to be going back to work. I really dont want to but... there is a morgage to pay. We are lucky that my husband's mom will be able to take care of our daughter after I go back to work. She semi retired this year so will have the time.
We did look into daycare and have one in mind if anything ever happens to the current situation. A coworker of mine has taken her daughter there for the last 2 years and loves the place. Its also a little on the cheaper side at around $600 a month. But other places were $900 or more a month. Crazy!
Beth (in WA State)
Hi,
$600/month, that's amazing! The cheapest we've found is $250/wk and that one wasn't so great. The one we like and have gotten great feedback about is..are you ready? $330/wk! That's a mortgage! Of course its a center, which I don't really need but more of the home daycare's don't have any openings for infants when we'll need it. My husband can switch to a 4 day work week but I can't and 1 day less doesn't really save anything, in fact, many places penalize you for that. If we could go to 3 days, that would be a savings.
You're lucky you have family that will help. My mother in law is near by but my husband is getting the notion that she's not into the regular commitment each week. Kind of a bummer but I'd rather she tell us that now and not a month into me being back at work. Unfortunately my whole family is out of state. I just don't know how we're going to swing it.
Everyone tells me it usually works out in the end and you'll find a great place so, I'm hoping they are right.
